What's happening for Bamby Media in 2022

Do you plan out your year ahead?

To be honest, I used to not really bother doing it. Especially in the earlier years of my business. I didn't have "goals" that I wrote down and really thought about. I just let it flow and took the opportunities that felt good.

That actually worked really well for quite a while.

It allowed me to figure things out as I went because I believe it's important to be super adaptable when you're in the earlier years of business.

But as the years have gone on, the family has grown and the business has grown to include a substantial team, I recognised that I needed to have a solid plan.

Otherwise it would all get a bit bonkers.

In today's episode I give you a look at what's coming for myself personally and professionally in 2022.

I still don't set big "goals" in a traditional way. I just have a clear picture on how I want the year to feel, and what needs to be done in the business to create the space for the other things I also want to achieve in life.

Welcome to Pump Up Your Pod well, well Well welcome back to Pump Up Your Pod with Brianna here from Bamby Media, how is everybody doing? It is the start of January 2022, I have just woken up for the morning. So my voice sounds a little scarier than usual. And it is delightful. I actually spent yesterday afternoon, planning out the year and looking at what was happening. And I wanted to share a little bit of that with you today just because that felt like a nice thing to do.

So the first thing is, is that I don't jump into planning prior to the end of the year, I'm not sure what you do. But I really like to give myself the space to just enjoy the end of the year and not start thinking about the next one. Until I have to. Because it's always such a busy time at the end of the year, November, December are just absolutely insane. And it really takes me a good couple of weeks to decompress that the first week when after I had like start a holiday, when I've had the final week of the year for work. That first week when I finish up is just a bit bonkers. The adrenaline was really high leading into the break. And then when you finish up, your body is trying to recalibrate, to go okay, well hang on, she stopped doing all these things. Now. She's, quote, relaxing, but in the same way, my body is not relaxed yet. So it takes quite a while for my body to feel like it's really relaxed and feeling good. So I don't try and jump into any planning, I don't try and jump into any thoughts about what I want to do much at all, I just kind of enjoy the time, enjoy the family enjoy just doing very little, playing games, playing video games, catching up with friends, all that sort of stuff. So that's literally all I've been doing, and just enjoying my life.

So okay, looking into 2022 for us is it's gonna be really nice. I haven't picked a word for the year yet, the last year was joy. And that was such a good word. I almost want to just do that again. So anyway, we'll see what happens with that. But I haven't picked a new one. As yet. There's a lot of things in our personal lives that we will be doing this year. Me My husband, because we are renovating actually, well, we're not renovating, we're not doing the work. But the house has been renovated. The apartment that we bought quite a few years ago now it was like half renovated, and then we decided that we will the business took off basically. And so all our attention was drawn to that and then not the renovation.

So we are now taking the time to renovate the rest of the property and make it really nice. So I'm very excited about that from personal perspective. There's also a lot of things happening with children and you know, school and kindy and that sort of stuff. So that's all very exciting. We've already looked and mapped out the school holidays, if you have kids, it's a really good idea to do that, at the beginning of the year. Just make a note of when the school holidays are and then look at when you could potentially take some holidays during those school holidays, just so that you're not feeling like the kids go on holidays. And then you're like, What do I do with them.

And then just the normal other things like there's birthdays and that sort of stuff of planning that out and where we want to go and if we want to go anywhere for those particular things. I like to go away as much as possible because I work from home. So the studio that we have is a home studio and all our staff work. It's a distributed workforce. So everyone works from home. As great as that is it means that I spend a lot of time at the home. So when there is a possibility to go away somewhere I will absolutely do it because it feels like I need to as I don't go out a lot every day and I don't commute I don't do anything like that. So yeah, I feel like that's important.

And then as far as like life stuff for myself, I just want to continue doing what I was doing so bed kind of early up early. I want to have a walk by myself in the mornings and into a podcast. I love that so much having my any headphones that I have. They're fantastic wireless headphones that are just make me want to listen to stuff all the time. So yeah, I'm going to do more of that.

I want to do a few more fun activities and listen to more music and I want to sing with others this year too. So I'm a singer. I have been a musician for such a long time. And I need to get Back to that doing a bit more of that, because it brings me so much joy. I absolutely love it. I used to be in choirs and things as well. And I was always in a band. I wrote songs, we toured all sorts of stuff for a long time. So I'd like to get back to that this year and do a bit more of that, because it's just so fun. Okay, so that's what's going on. For me from a personal aspect, that's just a few little points that I made about what I wanted to do.

And then from the business perspective, what we do is we look at what we know we have coming up. And that can be quite substantial, especially at the beginning of the year, there are quite a few launches to happen, as a lot of new clients that we need to sort out, send them things, get them moving, get them organised, and that sort of stuff. So the January February period is generally pretty full on, it does ease back in as far as client work, lots of people will take extended breaks from their podcast during that time. So does give me a little bit of a breather to organise the other stuff that's happening there. There's some really exciting new developments happening with a few of the clients coming on to different packages with us and doing some more interesting things, some strategy work, some podcasts reach out guest stuff, some packages that I have not even advertised yet, which we are doing with a few clients. So that's going to be interesting to see how that goes from a podcasting perspective and see what we can really excel in for them.

I'm also going to be launching the let's get launchy course this year, as I've mentioned on the podcast before, which is the if you haven't got a podcast yet, it's the course that helps you get it off the ground and do it properly and that sort of thing. So that's going to be coming.

I've also got the pod lovers premium experience, which is for those that are inside the pod lovers community that have podcasts and want to grow their shows, they want the strategies around that they want like a hot seat with me troubleshooting type thing, once a month, it's a membership, it's going to be pretty relaxed, but jam packed full of really decent good information for people. So that's going to be coming.

I'd like to run a content creation retreat at some point this year, but COVID is still kicking everyone's ass. So I don't know when I'm going to do that. At this point, I'm not attached to any particular plan or month or that sort of thing, because it needs to feel like you can have a really good go of it. So we'll have to see how this year plays out with that sort of thing.

There's a few podcasting conferences that I'm going to be going to this year, which is cool. So that'll be good. I'm going to continue running the free community, the pod lovers I love popping in there and just answering people's questions, putting in little bits and pieces of that. There'll be a big focus on helping the existing clients that we have really excel. And so there will be a focus on trying to help as much as we can, and provide services and offerings that will help the existing clients really go for it from there.

So I'm excited about the potential for that this podcast will continue to run into 2022, I've been really enjoying it, I've been getting great feedback. And that's the whole point of it. It's just to help you grow your podcast and to feel connected to this industry get little tidbits of information from me, and also get to know me a bit more as well. This episode is not about a particular strategy or tool or anything like that. It's just me talking about what 2022 is going to look like for us from a business perspective. So that's what's going on for me, I hope that you have taken a bit of time, and really had a look at what you want your year two look like, talk to your partner about it. If you have a partner, even if your partner is not in your business with you, it's important for your partner to understand what your particular goals are. And then you can talk about their goals as well and see what the potential conflicts could be as far as time was scheduling that sort of thing. And see if you can get your holidays working at the same time. Those sorts of things. It's just important to take that time to actually do that because it feels like it connects you more to your partner as well and making sure that you feel like you're on the same page and that they understand when things start to get perhaps crazy for you. It was because of the steps that you took.

Yeah, so it's in really, really important to talk to your partner about that sort of stuff and feel connected in that way. I will be back to regular programming from the next week's episode. And thank you so much for tuning in and listening to my voice. I hope you've been getting a lot out of this content. I certainly have really enjoyed delivering it. And I will continue to do so. If you'd like to know anything in particular, if you have any questions then I would say head to the pod lovers.com and just put them in there. So it's a free community. If you're not in there already. Just get in there. Ask your question, pop it in there. That's the best way To actually get that answered, my emails are not so much because they are full of other things, and it's best to join the community.

Thanks for being with me. I hope you've had a really restful time off. And if you haven't taken any time off, what are you doing? Please take some time up. Even if it's a few days, take some time off. I'm all about the time off. Because if you want to be creative in your business, then you need to take yourself away from it so that you have space to think about it. And that's where I'm at with it all.
